BLOGS OF SEPARATION

Bringing The World Together, One Blog At A Time.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Blogs of Separation?

Blogs of Separation is basically the theory of 6 degrees of separation, but using blogs instead of individuals. Instead of acquaintances, we count reciprocal links as the connections between individuals. We wanted to see how far one person’s blog could reach within just 6 degrees.
  • How do you calculate links?

Our BOS stats calculator checks out your blog to see who you link to and who links to you. If you have a reciprocal link with someone (in other words, they link to you and you link to them), that counts as a connection between you and that blog. We also have a widget that you can add to your blog that will show the total number of blogs that link to yours within six degrees (incoming links), reciprocal or not, and one that will show the total number of blogs that you link to within six degrees (outgoing links). We update our stats at least twice a month, to keep your stats up to date.
  • What is a Blog Tree?

A blog tree shows only reciprocal links for the blog selected. The tree displays all the blogs linked to the original blog within six degrees. At each level of the tree, you can select which blog to display the links for, and the tree will dynamically change to show the reciprocal links for that blog.
  • How do I add my blog to Blogs of Separation?

On the right side of the Home page, there is an orange-tabbed box that says “Add Your Blog.” Enter the complete URL for your blog (for example, http://mycoolblog.blog.com) and click the Add button. While your blog will show up on the site immediately, it may take several days for all your stats and a screenshot of your blog to appear. We are constantly adding new blogs, and for each blog added, we have to visit every blog they link to in order to create the stats, which can take some time.
  • How often do you update the information about a blog?

We try to make sure we update the information for each blog a couple times a month. If for some reason you need your blog to be updated sooner, click on the “Contact Us” link on the bottom right of any page to send us an email with your request. Please make sure to include the entire URL of your blog in the email.
